SHSMD Announces 2018 Award Recipients


CHICAGO, Ill., September 19, 2018 – The Society for Healthcare Strategy & Market Development (SHSMD) today announced Larry Margolis, managing partner at SPM Marketing & Communications in La Grange, Ill., is the recipient of the 2018 SHSMD Leadership Excellence Award. The award is the highest honor a member can receive from SHSMD, a professional membership group of the American Hospital Association. Margolis was selected for this award based on outstanding achievements in the following areas:

  • Innovation in the practice of the strategy disciplines.
  • Enhancement of the profession.
  • Exceptional personal qualities and leadership abilities.
  • Career achievements and progression.
  • Stewardship.

SHSMD Rising Star
SHSMD also announced Rebecca Blanken and Stephanie Roussell have been named recipients of the 2018 SHSMD Rising Star recognition for demonstrating strong achievement, potential for leadership, exceptional personal qualities and innovation. The SHSMD Rising Star Award is given to members under the age of 40 who are making a meaningful difference and are on a trajectory for future success within the health care strategy professions. Rebecca Blanken is director of support services and public relations for Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Mich., and Stephanie Roussell is marketing manager at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, La.

The awards will be presented at the society’s annual conference, SHSMD Connections 2018, in Seattle, Wash., on October 8.
